Laysla De Oliveira for LA Times’ IMAGE magazine’s December 2024 Cover. There’s something about LA that feels haunted. I can see the scenes acted out in my mind as I explore this town. I’m new here so things have a way of jumping out at me. Old Hollywood is resurrected as I brush by strangers on the street, I mistake them for Elliott Gould with that smoldering cigarette hanging from his lip. I wanted to return to that time where the legends of the silver screen roamed free, where the dream of becoming ‘Discovered’ ran virulent. I thought that maybe it could use some rearranging, a way to make it mine, and I wanted to re-cast those leading roles to consider a different perspective.Year: 2024
